MANCORAD

 September, 2006 Meeting Minutes

The Sept. Mancorad meeting was called to order by Pres. Fred (W6BSF) at 7:34 pm.  All members present introduced themselves.  The Aug. minutes, as posted on the web, were accepted by the membership with motion made by Gene (KB9KXF) and seconded by Dan (N9FVZ).  The treasurers report was given by Dick (N9QFY) and also accepted by members with motion by John (NZ9Z) and Travis (KB9YRC).

A letter has been received from Cedar Ridge that they have closed their doors. The club had put down a deposit for our 2006 Christmas party. Dick will contact their lawyer in regards to getting this back. Other places suggested are The Fawn Supper Club, Nibbys at Branch and Gills in Whitelaw.  The committee will work on this and more information will follow.

The annual club picnic will be held this Saturday, Sept. 16th at Neshotah Park at the beach house shelter.  Lunch is planned around 11:30.  Please bring a dish to pass. The club will provide meat, buns, condiments and paper supplies.  Also, bring your own drinks.  A T hunt is in the offering.  Everyone is welcome.

Also the last Cobia sleepover is planned for Sept. 23-24th.  Anyone who can help set up on Friday, Sept 22. should meet at the shack at 1:30  to help Fred load up equipment.  Anyone who is planning to participate in this event needs to be signed up ahead of time.  If you have not already signed up, contact Fred so you get on the list for the Maritime Museum.  For those who are sleeping over, a short presentation will be given for the scouts on board.

Travis (KB9YRC) gave a detailed report on Aries/Races for the month of Aug. Most of the Scholten Foundation grant is still available.  Much work has been completed at the shack preparing the repeater  and the antenna.  Also,  the mobile boxes are almost complete and ready for operation.  These radio systems will go to the Sheriffs Dept., The Red Cross building and one for field use.  Also, a unit will be installed at Holy Family Hospital.

The annual Nuclear Drill will be held on Dec. 5th with Kewaunee Power Plant.

Steve (K9ZW) has been working on the event celebrating our 60th year. It is scheduled for Dec. 9-10th at the club shack. Announcements have been sent to many magazines.  Steve and Fred are working on a new QSL card for the event.  Everyone is encouraged to come and operate. Remember this is your club.

Discussion was held on the selling of the TSA30 radio.  Ellen from Milwaukee has offered to post it for sale down in the Milwaukee area. It was agreed that the buyer should pay for shipping.

Walt (K9WL) printed up 50 color brochures for the club.  Fred will deliver some of these to the Visitors Center for distribution.  Thank you Walt.

A new Macro list for repeater operation is available.

Next month is elections.  Everyone is encouraged to come and consider running for an office.   All positions are open.

Marty won the 50/50 raffle.

Meeting adjourned 8:25 Lunch was served.
