November, 2005 Meeting Minutes
President Fred (W6BSF) called the meeting to order at 1932 CDT, November 9, 2005. The October, 2005 meeting minutes as e-mail distributed by Fred were accepted by motion from Ken (K9HAG) and second by Bob (KC9HBA). Dick (N9QFY) gave the Treasurer’s report, which was accepted by motion from Theresa (KB9KXE) and second by John (NZ9Z).
Fred introduced the new Board members elected at the October meeting. They are; W6BSF President, N4WGK Vice President, N9QFY Treasurer, N9NCU Secretary, and Board members NZ9Z, K9WL and N9FVZ.
This year’s Christmas Party, January 6, 2006, will be held again at Cedar Ridge. The member and guest meal cost is $11.00 per person. The minimum attendees required are 40, same as last year. Please get your reservations in to Treasurer N9QFY.
Club dues for 2006 are also due. Please get your dues in to Treasurer N9QFY.

John (NZ9Z) reported that the Technician license Cram Course will be deferred until Spring, 2006, on a date to be determined. Fred requested that at least a 2 month prior announcement be made through the press to solicit trainees. There will be a nominal trainee fee to cover copying and lunch.
AA9AA has purchased the log-periodic HF beam donated by Glenn DeBaker to Mancorad. The purchase price of $300.00 has been deposited in the club treasury.
Dan (N9NCU) gave an update on Manitowoc County ARES/RACES activities.
- The annual nuclear exercise for 2005 with the Kewaunee Power Station was conducted on Tuesday, November 1, 2005. A big Thanks to KC9HBA, W6BSF, N4WGK, W9NPX, N9JZZ, NZ9Z, KB9VLS and K9WL for participating.
- The Lakeshore Technical College training EOC building construction is nearly complete. Fred, John and Dan from Manitowoc and Mike (K9SJ) from Sheboygan ARES/RACES were at LTC this week to inventory the HF and VHF ham radio equipment and design a rolling console to hold it. There will be a work party required to support the installation of the ham radio equipment. Over 1000 ft. of coax has been required for the project, and there will be a lot of soldering of N and UHF connectors to do.
- The Kewaunee Power Plant new Emergency Operations Facility and Joint Public Information Center is continues in the Green Bay I43 industrial park. It is likely that a work party will be needed for this project also.
- The WI Section Hospital Bio-terrorism amateur radio support communications initiative continues. Dan will meet this week with Holy Family hospital to establish a Memorandum of Understanding, and the Aurora Hospital will be next. The final phase will be installation of antenna, feed line, grounding and power supplies.
Steve (KB9GPN) asked (via Fred) if the membership would prefer a class this Saturday morning (11/12) or Sunday afternoon (11/13) for the introduction to digital communications class Steve has volunteered to provide. Due to the short notice, Steve will be asked to defer this class until after January 1, 2006.
Mancorad Salvation Army Bell Ringers – please sign up via the Internet at www.ringbells.org , and be sure to indicate Mancorad as the sponsoring organization for credit.
A future meeting suggestion on “HF Operations” (contesting, QRM avoidance, etc.) was made by KA9WYK. This will be forwarded to N4WGK.
Housekeeping: Please put soda cans and plastic bottles in the kitchen sink at the conclusion of meetings rather than garbage cans. Also, a spring club shack cleaning party will be conducted on a date to be determined.
The monthly 50/50 raffle was conducted. $18.50 was collected, and the winner of the drawing was Walt (K9WL). The treasury will increase by $9.25 due to tonight’s raffle.
The meeting was adjourned at 2049 CDT.
Lunch was served; thanks to Theresa for again bringing in the treats.
