May, 2005 Meeting Minutes
President Fred (W6BSF) called the meeting to order at 1943 CST, May 11, 2005. The April, 2005, meeting minutes as e-mail distributed by Fred were accepted by motion from Travis (KB9YRC) and second by Gene (KB9KXF). Fred gave the Treasurer’s report on behalf of Dick (N9QFY) who was not in attendance; the report was accepted by motion from Steve (KB9GPN) and second by John (NZ9Z).
Mancorad’s Highway 42 cleanup day is coming up on May 17, 2005 (NEXT TUESDAY) at 1800 CST; please participate if you can – contact N9QFY. Rain date is May 25, 2005.
Fred thanked the individuals for their participation in the April 30, May 1, 2005, weekend in operation aboard the USS Cobia. Participants were N9NCU, KA9WYK, KB9GPN, KC9FVR, K9HAG, KB9GOY, KB9KXF, AA9LV, N9AWG, KB9INK, NZ9Z, KC9AAH, KB9YRC, W6BSF, KC9HBA and AF9J.
Please sign up for help on the following club events;
- The Leukemia – Lymphoma Bike-a-thon on July 23 – 24, 2005. We need a new coordinator as N9PBL has indicated he will not be doing it this year. If a new coordinator does not step forward, the bikers will be without amateur radio communications support after leaving Sheboygan County en-route to Sturgeon Bay .
- Field Day on June 24 – 25, 2005 at Silver Creek Park in Manitowoc .
- Brat Fry on June 11, 2005, at the Two Rivers Pick’N Save; contact N9FVZ, KB9KXE or N9QFY if you can help.
- USS Cobia for Ships Afloat on July 16 - 17, 2005.
- Troutman Bike-a-thon on July 16, 2005; contact KB9GOX if you can help.
Steve (KB9GPN) reported on the library book project status. Steve will be meeting with the Manitowoc Public Library on May 23, 2005 to finalize the press release on the donation.
There will be a HF Tribander antenna change out occurring on May 28, 2005, to take down the donated beam from W9DWN’s estate (and tower also), and relocating the beam to the Clubshack; the current TA33 Jr. will come down and be used in the future for Field Day. KA9WYK, NZ9Z, W6BSF and KB9YRC are planning on doing the work, but extra help is desired; please contact Fred.
John gave an update on the $575.00 raised for donation in ham radio equipment for Sri Lanka after the Tsunami disaster. The money is still currently in the states, awaiting advice from Sri Lanka on what amateur radio equipment they need to have procured.
June 20, 2005, will be the annual proclamation of Amateur Radio Operation Day for Manitowoc County by the city of Manitowoc ’s Mayor. If you wish to attend, please be at the Manitowoc City Hall by 1845 CST that evening.
Cards of appreciation from Dan (N9JKX) and the family of Dennis (W9DWN-SK) for ManCoRad's gifting of flowers for the passing of Dan’s father, and also the passing of Dennis.
The first 50/50 raffle was conducted. $14.50 was collected, and the winner ($7.25) of the drawing was Fred. Fred donated his winnings back to the club treasury, so the treasury will increase by $14.50 due to tonight’s raffle.
The meeting was adjourned at 2033 CST.
Lunch was served.
The second of three excellent Severe Weather presentations was made by Travis (KB9YRC) after the meeting.
