MANCORAD

 July, 2005 Meeting Minutes

  President Fred (W6BSF) called the meeting to order at 1933 CDT, July 13, 2005. The June, 2005 meeting minutes as e-mail distributed by Fred were accepted by motion from John (NZ9Z) and second by Chris (KB9LVS). Dick (N9QFY) gave the Treasurer’s report, which was accepted by motion from Travis (KB9YRC) and second by Chris (KB9LVS).

Please sign up for help on the following club events;

  • The Leukemia – Lymphoma Bike-a-thon on July 23 – 24, 2005. Approximately 750 cyclists are expected. Contact John (NZ9Z) or Chris (KB9LVS).
  • USS Cobia for Ships Afloat on July 16 - 17, 2005.  Contact Steve (KB9GPN) or Carl (KA9WYK). Set-up will be at 8:00 a.m. at the Cobia on July 16.
  • Troutman Bike-a-thon on July 16, 2005; contact James (KB9GOX).
  • Mancorad Family Picnic at Two Rivers Neshota Park on September 10, 2005. Ron (WS9X) needs to be contacted for the T-Hunt transmitter.
  • Brat Fry dates reserved at Two Rivers Pick’N-Save – October 1 and October 8, 2005.  More information at the August Meeting.

The Raleigh Point lighthouse event has been cancelled for 2005.

  Mancorad club member interest surveys have been sent out to all club members either by e-mail, or by hard mail.  Please fill the survey out and return to Dan (N9NCU). Survey results will be presented at the August meeting. Only 22 surveys have been received back so far.

  Dan (N9NCU) gave an update on Manitowoc County ARES/RACES activities. New ARES/RACES members Bob (KC9HBA) and Walt (K9WL) have joined the group.  Also, Chris (KB9VLS) has been appointed a new Assistant Emergency Coordinator.  The next ARES/RACES meeting is Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at the Mancorad Clubshack – meeting time is 7:00 p.m.  The meeting will feature a report by the Communications Committee, and traffic handling and net operations.  Non-ARES/RACES members are invited and welcome to attend. The Wisconsin District ARES Simulated Emergency Test (SET) will be conducted on Saturday, October 1, 2005.

  Fred (W6BSF) made several announcements:

  • The estate of Dennis Nelson (W9DWN) has donated a Drake TR3 to the club.
  • Fran (AA9LV) has jointed Mancorad as a new member.
  • A thank you letter from the Salvation Army for the Mancorad Christmas bell-ringer volunteers has been received. Mancorad volunteers collected $326.47 for the Salvation Army last year.
  • A thank you letter from the Manitowoc Lutheran High School has been received acknowledging a Mancorad memorial donation for Dennis Nelson (SK).
  • The October, 12, 2005, Mancorad meeting will include election of the 2006 club officers and board members; the 2006 fiscal year begins November 1, 2005. Please consider volunteering to serve.

  A video of the June 20th Mayor of Manitowoc City’s proclamation of Amateur Radio day was viewed. 

  This was followed by a photo presentation of the 2005 Mancorad Field Day setuppresented by Carl KA9WYK. Thanks You's were passed out to all those members that participated in this years Field Day event. Big ThankYou's again go to the Hartlaubs (KB9KXE & KB9KXF) for the use of their 30' luxury trailer, Barney N9XER for use again of his big hunting tent, Steve KB9GPN for use of his company’s (Crafts, Inc.) big boom crane for really elevating our antennas toward the heavens and Carl KA9WYK for his computer laptop network and logging programs.

 The monthly 50/50 raffle was conducted. $17.50 was collected, and the winner of the drawing was Jon, W3JT. The treasury will increase by $8.75 due to tonight’s raffle.

  The meeting was adjourned at 2046 CDT.
