Welcome to the World of Amateur Radio

Dear Amateur Radio Enthusiast;

   We, the members of the Manitowoc Amateur Radio Club (ManCoRad) would like you to join our ranks. Our club meets at 7:30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at our clubroom, which is located at 1105 Fleetwood Dr. 2nd floor on east end of the building (corner of Fleetwood Dr. and Waldo Blvd.). Our membership is composed of individuals like you who are either interested in obtaining an Amateur radio license or already have met the FCC Amateur radio Licensing requirements. Please join us at one of our meetings which are informal in nature for the purpose of exchanging ideas & information on amateur radio, enjoying fellowship and keeping up with our rapidly changing hobby.

   Club events are scheduled every year to include a few weekends aboard the WWII memorial submarine “USS Cobia” where we set up working Ham radio stations and talk to hams across the country. We also plan/participate in the annual nationwide ARRL “Field Day” event where we set up our radio equipment remotely and run off of emergency power for 24 hours to demonstrate our emergency capabilities. In severe weather we activate a local county weather net and do weather spotting/reporting for NOAA weather located in Green Bay. ManCoRad also offers occasional amateur radio licensing classes as needed. Our annual family picnic and family Christmas party are wonderful social events for all to attend.

 ManCoRad also supports ARES (amateur radio emergency services) and RACES (Radio amateur civil emergency services). Members of Manitowoc Co. ARES/RACES participate along with Manitowoc County Emergency management personnel in annual Nuclear plant drills, work with local Red Cross officials during disasters, provide radio support for biking events and do other related activities as they arise. ARES/RACES meetings are held quarterly at our clubroom.

   Our club has a 2-meter repeater-ID: W9DK (146.610- pl 107.2), which you are welcome to use. Feel free to join us on our weekly Sunday morning 2-meter net held at 10am. ARES/RACES also uses the repeater for their weekly net held every Tuesday evening at 7pm. (Non-members of Ares/Races are welcome to check in also).

   Club membership dues are $20.00 per year for individuals and $30.00 per year for families. Students (thru age 18) are $10.00 per year. All dues are prorated during the course of the year with annual dues due by December 31st of each year.

Why not join the club and meet a great bunch of people. Hope to see you at our next meeting.
