Club monthly meeting was held at LTC campus

President Carl ( KA9WYK ) called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Carl Introduced Rich Hoerth, ( Dean of public safety division at LTC ).

Mr. Hoerth gave a description of the emergency function at LTC.

He gave a brief explanation of how it developed, with special training in emergency management.

These are designed and developed programs to expand Hazmat, Criminal Justice, EMS, Fire Programming and part of the program included Emergency Management.

ManCoRad was instrumental in helping in the process in the design and development of this program.

Mr. Hoerth announced that Kohler Co. has donated a generator that will be installed to aid in any emergency in case of loss of power. Which will make the public safety building totally self sufficient.

Mr. Hoerth Thanked all that helped in this development. 

Carl ( KA9WYK ) made the following announcements and passed around sign up sheets.

• Brat Fry for May 5 was cancelled and changed to May 12^th
• Both Brat Fry’s ( May 12^th and 19^th ) will be at Two River’s Pick N’ Save ( 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM )
• May 22^nd will be a road side clean up at 6:30 PM – meeting at Two Creek’s town shop.            Clean up will be a ½ mile each side of Highway 42 at this location.
• June 2^nd is the Scouting Camporee at LTC ( approx. 250 Scouts ) with presentation & 12 – ½ hour sessions using HF or 2 meters.
• June 9^th – 10^th USS Cobia Ships A Float / Scouts sleep over.    Please sign up.                             NOTE: On our last event there were numerous operators that signed up but didn’t show.                                                  If there are not enough operator’s for this event – We will have to restrict this event to just an over night and Sunday.                                                                            ( This is an open event ) and not restricted to ManCoRad members.                                    But you must sign up so you can get on board Free of charge. )
• June 23^rd / 24^th Field Day’s / Family Picnic. Held at Silver Creek Park. Manitowoc, WI.( Toboggan Hill ) If any other club operator wishes to stop by for a visit ( your welcome )

Steve ( K9ZW ) announced that on April 7 the club held a Ham Cram and all that took the course – passed.

Those new hams were present at this meeting and were:

• Steve ( K9ZW ) wanted to thank the following members in helping with the Ham Cram

 Without them this event would not have been possible.

Carl ( KA9WYK ) announced that the new members submitted an application to become ManCoRad members.

The board has approved these applications and a vote was taken to accept the new Ham operators as members.

Motion from Walt ( K9WL ) and second by Bob ( KC9HBA ).

These new operator’s were told that as new club members – they qualified for the free first year’s club membership.

Another operator Robert ( N9LBU ) a former Mancorad member submitted an application and it was approved by the board, a vote was taken to accept applicant as a member, motion from Walt ( K9WL ) and second by Steve ( K9ZW )

 A big warm welcome to these 7 new members.

Steve ( K9ZW ) talked about the Island expedition / activation done be both Steve ( K9ZW ) and Carl ( KA9WYK )

This DX-pedition activated the little island called Steppen Island in Shoto ( Manitowoc county ) WI.

This Island is now called WI-39R – Anyone wishing to get involved can get info from www.usislands.org 

Information will also be linked from ManCoRad’s web site.

Travis ( KB9YRC ) gave a Severe Weather Presentation.

As usual it was extremely informational and enjoyed by all in attendance.

Following the presentation was a luncheon and a social gathering.
