PDF Version of the minutes
President Carl ( KA9WYK ) called the meeting to order at 7:32 P.M.
The June 2007 meeting minutes as e-mailed & posted on web site were accepted by motion from Ken (K9HAG) and second by Theresa ( KB9KXE ).
Dan (N9NCU) gave the treasury report with a motion to accept from John (NZ9Z ) second by Mike (KC9HQV ).
Passed around was a new club owned coax stripper. For RG-8 / RG-213
Carl ( KA9WYK ) announced that a sign up sheet was being passed around for 2 different Bike-A-Thon’s.
The Kewaunee Trout fest Dual-A-Thon on July 14th

Volunteers are needed for just a few hours’ on Saturday morning starting at 7:00 AM at the Bruemmer park in Kewaunee to watch for breakdowns, medical emergencies and such.
There is also a site for sign up on our clubs Yahoo group web site.
Those interested in helping with the Leukemia event should contact Carl ( KA9WYK ) 920-565-3167
He will provide more details for this event.
Carl ( KA9WYK ) talked about the Repeater Project to be taken to Frank’s Radio Service.
A group has volunteered to transport the repeater on July 23rd at noon.
Dan (N9NCU) gave the ARES/RACES report and talked about:
* A recent Desk Top “Point Beach Nuclear Plant drill” He talked about the scenario, the participation and issues.
* Pointed out the clubs new station console / countertop.
* The net check in’s.
* The July 21st LTC Antenna Raising Party. Those interested in helping with the antenna raising should contact
either John ( NZ9Z ) or Fred ( W6BSF )
( These volunteers should be aware that the antenna raising should be complete in plenty of time prior to the
Bike-A-Thon if you wish to help out with this event also.)
* Shawn ( KC9AAH ) a member of ARES/RACES that has dropped out due to a move out of the area.
* Both of the Diamond X300A antenna mounting tube’s on top of the Holy Family Hospital failed.
In the clubs opinion the antenna’s mounting design seems to have a design fault.
The Diamond Co. did replace them after a month long correspondence ( On a one time ONLY basis )
Carl ( KA9WYK ) - [ CQ DX ] Carl and Steve ( K9ZW ) are planning another Island Activation.
This time it will be “HOBO ISLAND” – No date set yet, possibly beginning of Aug. More News to come….
Carl ( KA9WYK ) talked about the Club Shack remodeling.
Organizing wall and closet / Cleaning & wax floor / putting up a workable vintage station.
Anyone interested in this project along with checking out equipment to be sure it works should contact Carl.
John ( NZ9Z ) brought to club’s attention that Tom Aschenbrenner will be up for the summer and very knowledgeable on restoring old gear.
Carl ( KA9WYK ) announced that we have another application for club membership. Mark Heller (WB9WRT).
Motion to accept Mark into club was from Marty ( KC9JGE ) and Second by Chris ( KB9VLS )
Interestingly enough Mark was a past member and visited the park during field day and after talking with members he decided to re-join. A Big Welcome back to Mark ( WB9WRT ).
John ( NZ9Z ) brought to the clubs attention that a few members were not getting e-mails of the minutes.
Anyone who isn’t getting e-mails should be sure to inform Carl ( KA9WYK ) of changes.
Call sign changes, e-mail addresses, mailing addresses etc.
John also mentioned that the Cobia QSL cards are running low, that there are thoughts to stay with or change the Cobia vanity call sign. The current N9BQV commemorates the sub’s original call of NBQV.
He said that while N9BQV does that, it is not distinctive/unusual like going with a 2X2 such as NB9QV would.
Other ideas are W9SUB, N9SUB, etc.
Vern ( KC9EME ) talked about a fellow in Manitowoc that has 4 or 5 towers for sale, ranging in price from $125. to $150 should contact club.
The monthly 50/50 raffle was conducted and the winner was Dan (N9NCU )
The treasury increased by $ 7.00 as did Dan’s pocket.
A hat raffle was also conducted – the 3 winners were:
Roger ( W9NPX ) / Marty ( KC9JGE ) and Dan ( N9NCU ) – who donated his hat to Roxanne ( KC9KQU )
Carl ( KA9WYK ) followed the meeting with a field day / family picnic with a presentation of pictures along with some trials, tribulations and ideas for future field day operations.
The motion to adjourn meeting was by Jerry ( KC9JNL ) and second by John ( NZ9Z ) at 8:18 p.m.
A social luncheon followed the presentation with hamburgers, brat patties, and hotdogs from field day.
The Field day event was a great success and the family picnic was one of the best ever.
