February, 2007 Meeting Minutes

President Carl ( KA9WYK ) called the meeting to order at 7:35 P.M.

The January 2007 meeting minutes as e-mailed & posted on web site was accepted by motion from Jerry ( KC9JNL )

and second by Travis ( KB9YRC ).

 

The Treasurer’s report was given by Dan ( N9NCU ) and was accepted by motion from Bob (KC9HBA ) and second by Theresa ( KB9KXE ).

 

Dan ( N9NCU ) discussed the remodeling of club and presented a new proposed change from the original design plans.

He asked for any ideas or comments on the subject. Dan then said that between now and the next meeting he plans on  purchasing countertop and upper storage.

 

Dan ( N9NCU ) gave a report on the results of the backup repeater test.

Over fifteen 15 ARES/RACES members performed a test after the net and the results were good - showing that just about all areas of the county were covered with full quieting – with the exception of Two Rivers having a bit of a grainy sound and Elkhart Lake were unable to pick up repeater as they were checking in on a

15 watt transceiver with an indoor J-pole.  

Based on this finding, we plan to make the backup repeater a functioning 24/7 pair.

 

John ( NZ9Z ) then discussed the situation on getting the coordinating pair frequency.

He will get some help in filling out the complicated form and sent out this month.

 

Dan( N9NCU ) gave a 2007 Christmas party report that he has checked with 7 different restaurants and the cost quotes of each and has chosen Gills in White Law.

For January 4, 2008 with a price of $8.75 per person - using last years prices with a possible slight adjustment up.

 

Steve ( K9ZW ) talked about the Ham Cram.

Date of Ham Cram will be April 21st – 8 AM to 4 PM

With a pre class on April 2 at 6 PM to give those interested an idea of what they need to be prepared.

Cost would include - Test fee, supplies / materials and Text Book and include a lunch.

The class will be entry level and advertised as a CLOSED SESSION to keep load down.

A discussion of the cost for the Ham Cram to off set the exam fee, supplies, book and lunch was finalized as

$ 40.°° was motioned by Walt ( K9WL ) and second by Gene ( KB9KXF ).

 

Any member also interested in upgrading to General or Extra should contact Carl ( KA9WYK )

 

Dan( N9NCU ) discussed the clubs ARRL Insurance and what all needs to be included.

As a final result it was agreed that all high value items, should be insured at the board’s discretion without need of

a members vote.     Motioned by Steve ( K9ZW ) second by Walt ( K9WL )

 

Carl ( KA9WYK ) passed around to member’s a recently purchased DVM instrument.

 

John ( NZ9Z ) gave a Salvation Army report.  

Theresa (KB9KXE ) and Mary ( KB9JOY ) collected $ 39.12 at Walgreens in TwoRivers and John ( NZ9Z ) and Fred (W6BSF ) collected  $ 59.26 at Copps for a combined total of $ 98.38 with a hardy congratulations.

 

Dan( N9NCU ) gave the ARES/RACES report and added that the first quarter meeting has been re-scheduled from Feb. 20th to March 6th for the IS700 (Introduction to National Incident Management System - NIMS) at 7 PM

Dan( N9NCU ) gave a financial balance report on ARES/RACES grants.

 

A discussion was also brought up to purchase the new ARRL Technician License text books for the Schools and Libraries to replace the out dated “Now You’re Talking” books that were donated in the past.

 

Steve ( K9ZW ) commented on the contest that took place a few weeks ago and said it was successful and complemented all that participated - anyone interested in March contests contact Steve for setting that up.

Steve also reminded everyone about Elmering and working digital modes, to contact him.

 

The Green Bay Severe Weather Spotter Training is changed to April 9th at 4319 Expo Drive at the Manitowoc Co Office Complex - ExpoCenter at 6:30 PM

 

The monthly 50/50 raffle was conducted and the winner was Dan ( N9NCU )

Dan donated his half of the $16.00 pot back into the treasury.
